Gamecocks QB McEvoy leaves team

COLUMBIA, SC (FOX Carolina) -

South Carolina quarterback Tanner McEvoy left the team Tuesday, according to a release by the school's athletics department.

Officials said McEvoy was expected to transfer to another school.

"The Gamecock coaching staff and I wish Tanner all the best as he continues his collegiate career elsewhere," said head coach Steve Spurrier.

McEvoy, a red-shirt freshman from Hillsdale, NJ, was listed on the fourth team. He did not attend the team's practice Tuesday morning.
