Greenwood County deputies said a woman wrote checks on a handicapped man's account when she went grocery shopping for him.
According to an incident report, the man noticed several missing checks when looking over his bank statement last month. It said the man told deputies that 55-year-old Deborah Tolbert occasionally comes to his home to do chores and shop for him since he is in a wheelchair.
The incident repot said that when deputies confronted Tolbert about the missing checks, she admitted to writing several checks at the grocery store and getting cash back from the transactions, totaling $1,718.05.
Tolbert was charged with financial exploitation of a vulnerable adult and four counts of forgery.
