SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Spartanburg police said they were called to an apartment complex because a woman was playing loud music and ended up charging her with child neglect.

Officers said they responded to the George Town Apartments on John B. White Sr. Boulevard at 1:35 a.m. Wednesday because Shanon Reese, 28, was playing loud music from her car in the parking lot and standing outside with her 7-year-old son.

When they tried to ask Reese to turn off the music, police said she refused and argued saying, "I pay rent and it's my right."

Reese's son got her to go inside and officers left, according to the police report. About 45 minutes later, officers were called back out because someone saw Reese outside in the parking lot yelling at her son and holding an infant.

The report said officers tried to talk to Reese, but she was not making any sense and was uncooperative.

Then she grabbed her son to go back inside, hitting the baby's head on the door frame and almost dropping him, police said. They said she also dropped ashes from her cigarette on the son.

When police went inside the apartment, they said there was trash everywhere, two bottles of vodka open on the kitchen counter, lots of dirty diapers, including the one the baby was wearing, which was overflowing with feces.

The children were checked out by paramedics and taken to the shelter while Reese was arrested and charged with neglect of a child and breach of peace.
