COLUMBIA, SC (FOX Carolina) -
The jackpot for Wednesday night's Powerball drawing has climbed to an estimated $212 million.
South Carolina Education Lottery officials said only six South Carolinians have won the Powerball jackpot since the state started playing - most recently in August 2009.
In order to win the jackpot, one must overcome the staggering odds of 1 in 176 million.
Powerball has been good to Palmetto State residents in recent weeks. Last Wednesday, a Conway resident missed the jackpot by one number, but was happy with the $1 million prize. In both Pelzer and Charleston, players scored $40,000 prizes.
Tickets for Wednesday night's Powerball drawing must be purchased by 9:59 p.m. The drawing will be broadcast live on FOX Carolina at 10:59 p.m.
