ANDERSON, SC (FOX Carolina) -
The "Hot Now" light will soon be shining in Anderson.
Glenn Reese, who has owned a Krispy Kreme location in Spartanburg since 1964, said he plans to open a new location at the corner of North Main Street and Midtown Square.
Reese said he's been wanting to open the location for a while, but the timing was never right - until now.
"With the last census in 2010, and the population growth up and down the I-85 corridor, with Clemson getting bigger and bigger, and if you visit Anderson it seems like it's bursting at the seams," Reese said.
Reese said he chose the vacant lot in Anderson because it mirrors his Spartanburg location - both shops are off Interstate 85, near downtown and near college campuses.
The $1.5 million location will open by spring, Reese said. He said he hopes to hire about 50 people - half full time and half part time.
