As police investigate the cause of a 10-month-old Calhoun Falls girl's injuries, Abbeville County Coroner Ronnie Ashley said she was taken off life support Saturday morning.
Calhoun Falls police Chief J.T. Galloway said police were called to the child's home on Wednesday after the girl, Emily LaBounty, began having trouble breathing and throwing up. He said the girl was first taken to a Greenwood hospital and then transferred to a Greenville hospital.
Galloway said investigators are still trying to determine what caused Emily's injuries.
"A child is involved," Galloway said. "It is a concern to me, but definitely a 10-month-old, to me, speaks volumes to the fact that we need to get the facts on what happened and how it happened."
Neighbors said Emily's mother is a good mother and there were two other people staying at the home.
Ashley said autopsy results will be released on Monday.
