Deputies: Teens burned community college's trailer

RUTHERFORDTON, NC (FOX Carolina) -

Deputies said two teenagers vandalized and destroyed a Rutherford County college's trailer.

Rutherford County deputies said Joshua Martin, 16, and Alex Splawn, 17, were charged as adults in connection with the vandalism and fire that destroyed a trailer used in Isothermal Community College's truck driving program.

Deputies said the destruction happened about 2:30 a.m. July 27.

Martin was charged with one count of burning of personal property. Splawn was charged with one count burning of personal property, one count of injury to personal property and one count of second degree trespass.

The case was investigated by Isothermal Community College school resource officers, the sheriff's office and the fire marshall's office.

Isothermal's truck driving program offers students one-on-one training with teachers to become certified drivers in the trucking industry.
