CALHOUN FALLS, SC (FOX Carolina) -
The death of a 10-month-old Calhoun Falls girl was ruled a homicide Monday, according to city police chief J.T. Galloway.
Galloway said police were called to the child's home on Aug. 8, after the girl, Emily LaBounty, began having trouble breathing and started throwing up. He said the girl was first taken to a Greenwood hospital and then transferred to a Greenville hospital, where she was placed on life support.
Abbeville County Coroner Ronnie Ashley said Emily was taken off life support Saturday morning, and was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.
Galloway said police are still trying to determine what caused the girl's injuries, before deciding if any charges will be filed.
Neighbors said Emily's mother is a good mother and there were two other people staying at the home.
