ASHEVILLE, NC (FOX Carolina) -
An injured baby goat found in an Asheville dumpster Wednesday afternoon has died, and a reward is being offered for information in the case.
According to the Asheville Humane Society, the 2-month-old kid was found in a trash bag by two Asheville Animal Services officers. The agency said the goat was taken to an animal hospital in Weaverville, where it later died.
"We're horrified and saddened that anyone could inflict such suffering on a helpless animal," said Asheville Humane Society President and CEO Katherine Shenar.
Shenar said the agency is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the person who hurt the goat and left it for dead.
Anyone with information about the injured goat was asked to call Buncombe County Crime Stoppers at 828-255-5050.
