GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Deputies said they seized 107 illegal gaming machines at three stores in Greenville County as part a joint effort.

On Aug. 9, Greenville County deputies along with South Carolina Law Enforcement Division agents went to the stores located at 3023 White Horse Rd, 6516 White Horse Rd. and 1386 North Pleasantburg Dr. to serve search warrants.

Authorities went with Chief Magistrate Diane Cagle, who deemed the machines illegal, and seized the machines, which have "slot" style games where players received cash payouts.

Greenville County Sheriff Steve Loftis said deputies have been monitoring the sweepstakes and Internet cafes where the alleged illegal gambling took place.

The machines seized were not the same as video poker machines and the majority of them were computers.

Loftis said people would enter the business, pay for internet time, then play games with cash payouts. The games were slots-type games.

"These types of businesses will not be tolerated in Greenville COunty," said Loftis. "Any business that is a front for criminal enterprise will be investigated and charges will be made."

As of Thursday, no charges have been filed in connection with the seizures.

Loftis asks anyone to report similar activity to the sheriff's office or CrimeStoppers at 864-23-CRIME.
