FOUNTAIN INN, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Fountain Inn police are investigating an incident after a burned man was airlifted to a local hospital Friday.

Police Chief Keith Morton said the man ran out of a duplex on Fairview Street Friday after he was burned.

Morton did not say how the man was burned, but the burns looked like they may have been caused by gasoline, but he could not be sure until they examined the apartment. He said officers were waiting on a search warrant to go into the duplex and check it for anything criminal or hazardous.

Police had closed off the building near Looneybrook Drive as the investigated what happened.

A neighbor told FOX Carolina that he had been kept away from his home for an hour during the police investigation.
