A Spartanburg woman was arrested after police said she was driving drunk when she crashed her truck onto a sidewalk and had her 4-year-old daughter in the car.
Police were called to the intersection near E. Main and Pine streets Saturday about 7:45 p.m. for the report of a possible drunk or reckless driver, according to a Spartanburg Public Safety report.
The report said witnesses saw the driver of a truck swerving and repeatedly changing lanes before she crossed two lanes of oncoming traffic, ran onto the sidewalk and crashed into a concrete planter.
The driver, identified as 35-year-old Christi Earle, tried to leave but couldn't because of a flat tire, the report said.
When police arrived and spoke with Earle, they said her speech was slurred and she was unsteady on her feet.
After failing two parts of the sobriety test, police arrested Earle and her daughter was picked up by family members, the report said. Police said paramedics also found a bottle of several types of pills in Earle's truck.
Earle was charged with possession of a controlled substance, driving under the influence between .10 and .16 second offense and child endangerment. She was released Sunday morning on a $8,000 bond.
