UNION, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A Union woman was arrested after police said she underfed her cats and let them walk around her feces and urine-covered home.

Union police officers were called to 48-year-old Mary Virginia Blackwell's Catherine Street home Friday after receiving a tip that her cats were left unattended and were not taken care of, according to a police report.

As officers investigated, they said they found several cats that were malnourished and walking around large amounts of feces. The report said there was a strong urine odor about the home as well.

Animal control officers were called and took two of the cats into custody while a trap was set to capture the remaining cats, the report said.

Blackwell was arrested and charged with ill treatment of animals.

According to the report, Blackwell has two addresses. It is not clear if she was living at the Catherine Street home at the time of her arrest.
