Teen among 3 killed in Upstate crashes Monday

GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Three people died in three separate, single-vehicle crashes across the Upstate on Monday night including a 16-year-old Easley boy.

In Laurens County, a motorcyclist died after crashing into a utility pole in Laurens on Monday night, troopers said.

The Highway Patrol said about 5:40 p.m. a male was driving a Honda motorcycle west on Metric Road when he drove off the left side of the roadway, hitting a utility pole.

The Laurens County coroner said the motorcyclist was 29-year-old Kenneth Elliot of Inman. He said Elliot's bike burst into flames when it the pole and he was thrown 12 feet. He said Elliot died from head and body trauma.

In Greenville County, the driver of a two-door car was traveling north on Old Bleachery Road when he went off the right side of the road and hit a retaining wall at 11:15 p.m., troopers said.

The driver was not wearing a seat belt, according to the Highway Patrol. His identity has not yet been released.

In Pickens County, a 16-year-old driver hit a pole, and was thrown from his vehicle along SC 183, according to troopers.

Troopers said the teen went off the left side of the road, hit the pole, overturned and was thrown. They said he was not wearing a seat belt. There is no word if the teenage driver was alone in the car.

Pickens County Coroner Kandy Kelley said Kevin McNab died in the crash near Easley after he was thrown from the car and landed under it.
