Escaped inmate back in Pickens Co. custody

EASLEY, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A Pickens County inmate who escaped work release Sunday is back in custody.

Pickens County deputies said 26-year-old Joshua Sanchez stole a truck from a recycling center Sunday while on work release.

Deputies Sanchez was serving time at the Pickens County detention center.

Detention center officials said Sanchez was back in custody Monday night and facing additional charges of attempted escape and grand larceny.

Sanchez was able to escape when a man left his truck running while dropping off items at the Pickens County Recycling Center in Central where Sanchez was on a work detail, deputies said.

Deputies said Sanchez got into the truck and drove off. Deputies said the stolen truck was recovered in Easley.
