SC's Auguste, Carson out after having surgery

COLUMBIA, SC (AP) -

Defensive back Akeem Auguste and reserve tailback Shon Carson are out indefinitely for South Carolina after each underwent surgery.

The school said Auguste had surgery on his right thigh muscle Sunday. He was injured in Saturday's scrimmage.

Auguste's status will be re-evaluated in four to five weeks. He had missed all but one game last season because of a foot injury. Auguste was expected to take over following the loss of cornerbacks Stephon Gilmore and C.C. Whitlock.

Carson had surgery on his left wrist Monday morning after he injured it at practice last Friday. He was part of the corps of running backs led by junior Marcus Lattimore.
