2nd victim of shooting near Berea dies; arrest made

BEREA, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The second person who deputies said was shot during an altercation at a home near Berea on Tuesday died Wednesday evening.

The shooting happened about 6 p.m. at 212 Lester Ave.

Deputies said that someone was walking a dog past a home on Lester Avenue when the person got into a fight with two other men. They said that was when someone shot two people.

One person, identified as 42-year-old Ben Anders, died at the scene, deputies said. They said a second person, identified as 69-year-old Ben Anders Sr., suffered a gunshot wound to the head and was taken to an area hospital for treatment. Anders Sr. died Wednesday afternoon.

Deputies said Lawrence Campbell, 61, of Greenville was arrested Wednesday in connection with the double shooting. He was charged with two counts of murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and was being held in the county jail without bond.
