GREER, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A Greer woman said she was followed into her apartment complex on her way home Sunday by someone claiming to be an officer, according to police.

Greer police said about 2:30 a.m. Sunday the woman had pulled into the parking lot of the Bradford Apartments on Poinsett Street when she saw a white Chevrolet Tahoe follow her in.

When she parked near her apartment, the woman told police that the man approached her, called her "honey," showed a star-shaped badge and said he was with the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division.

The woman did not get out of her car and called her husband to come outside, according to the police report. The report said when her husband walked outside, he said the man showed his badge and said he was a deputy.

Police said the man got back into his Tahoe. He was described as a white male wearing cream-colored pants and a teal T-shirt. He was about 6' or 6'1" tall, weighed at least 200 pounds and had brown hair, the report said.

Police said they never located the man or his SUV but requested extra patrol for the apartments. The police report said the case was administratively closed because there were no leads to follow-up on.

If anyone has any information they are asked to call CrimeStoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
