Pita Pit, a popular, late-night restaurant chain opened a second Upstate location on Thursday in downtown Greenville.
The "fast, fresh" chain that serves up hand made-to-order pita subs opened at 10:30 a.m. Thursday on S. Main Street next door to CVS.
The restaurant marked the occasion with a ribbon cutting, giving the first 25 customers who ate at the new location free pitas for a year, one free pita a week.
Pita Pit will serve lunch and dinner, staying open late night on Fridays and Saturdays while also offering delivery to downtown area businesses and residences. Their regular hours will be Sunday through Thursday from 10 a.m. until 11 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. until 3 a.m.
"Downtown Greenville is a great fit for Pita Pit," Justin Kopelman, owner of the local Pita Pit franchises, said. "Our menu is one-of-a-kind, providing a fast, fresh and health conscious option for professionals and families in the heart of downtown."
The first Pita Pit opened in 1997 in Canada and in the United States a short time later. The other Upstate Pita Pit is in downtown Clemson.
