MARIETTA, SC (FOX Carolina) -
A man riding a moped was killed in a crash near Marietta on Thursday evening.
The crash happened just before 6 p.m. near the intersection of River Falls and McCarson roads.
Troopers said the man, identified as 65-year-old Sherman Rider, of Marietta, was traveling north on River Falls Road, when the moped went off the right side of the road and hit a guardrail. They said the man was thrown from the moped.
Rider, who was pronounced dead at the scene, was not wearing a helmet, according to the Greenville County Coroner's Office.
The cause of the crash was under investigation.
