SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Spartanburg County deputies released a sketch Monday of a man who they said raped a woman in her apartment Friday night.

The rape happened about 9:30 p.m. at the Newport Apartments on Jeff Davis Drive.

Deputies said that a woman answered a knock at her door from a man who claimed his car had broken down, and asked to use her bathroom. They said that when the woman refused, the man forced his way into her apartment and raped her.

The man was described as black, in his early 20s, about 5'8" tall and between 150 and 160 pounds. He had short hair with thin sideburns, chipped or gapped front teeth and facial hair on his chin. He was last seen wearing an orange shirt, light-colored shorts and flip flops.

Deputies said the man got away in a small, silver or gray car.

Anyone with information about the attack was asked to call Crime Stoppers at 888-CRIME-SC (888-274-6372).
