SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -
A man who died in a Spartanburg pool last month did not drown, according to the Spartanburg County Coroner's Office.
Investigators said on July 6 that 50-year-old Perry Smith was pulled from the bottom of the pool at Crowne Point Apartments. They said that bystanders performed CPR until help arrived. Smith was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.
On Tuesday, investigators said an autopsy revealed Smith died from sudden cardiac arrest, and no evidence was found that he drowned.
