SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Spartanburg County deputies arrested one of four men who fled during a traffic stop Friday afternoon.

Investigators said a deputy tried to stop a vehicle at 2:39 p.m., but the driver fled. They said the vehicle was chased until the driver stopped near a wooded area at the intersection of Emma Cudd Road and Knob Hill Drive.

Deputies said they were on patrol when the recognized people inside truck in connection with the making and distribution of methamphetamine.

As the deputy followed the vehicle they realized the tag was assigned to a different car, so they tried to pull the driver over, but he fled until later wrecking in the woods along Emma Cudd Road.

Deputies said four men in the truck fled the scene on foot, but one of them was quickly arrested. They said authorities searched the area for the remaining men, but they were not located.

James Hill Jr., 22, was taken into custody and arrested on an outstanding warrant for criminal domestic violence. He was later released from jail on a $2,000 bond.

Investigators said they have identified the other three occupants and the case remains under investigation.
