MARIETTA, SC (FOX Carolina) -
The Greenville County coroner said a Greer man died after falling from the top of a waterfall Sunday.
Authorities said 59-year-old Billy Gorham fell while hiking to the top of Wildcat Falls, which is located off of U.S. 276 near Marietta.
Coroner Jeff Fowler said Gorham was pronounced dead on scene and died from blunt force trauma.
He said Gorham was hiking alone when he fell, but he was an avid hiker and had been to the falls several times.
Witnesses heard Gorham start to fall, looked up and saw him fall, according to Fowler.
This was not the first death of a hiker after falling from Wildcat Falls. In April 2011, 29-year-old David Lewis died after falling more than 100 feet after he slipped while walking along the falls.
