GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -
More than 1,000 people in Greenville County were in the dark Sunday night after a car crash knocked out power to the area.
Fire officials said car ran into a utility pole near the intersection of Batesville and Pelham roads about 7:30 p.m.
The accident knocked down a pole, disrupting electrical service for the area.
Troopers are investigating the crash and said the driver was injured, but is expected to survive.
Several businesses between the Interstate 85 corridor and Highway 14 were left in the dark, and stop lights were out between the areas, causing some back-ups for drivers on secondary roads.
Officials with Duke Energy said they didn't expect to have all power restored until about2 a.m. Monday.
