GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -
The fryers were hot and ticket orders came fast inside a new food truck in Greenville on Monday.
The mobile menu is run by Lauren Zanardelli and her boyfriend, Graham Foster. They are the chefs and owners of the truck, named Neue Southern.
"We hope that they're satisfied and that they keep coming back," said Zanardelli.
Their love for one another and for food birthed a new baby that sits on four wheels just off Wade Hampton Boulevard in Greenville, and customers are cooing over it.
So, as customers lined up, Kathy Heinbaugh rolled in on a golf cart.
"It took me three minutes to get here on the golf cart," Heinbaugh said.
She likes the idea of gourmet food parked on the street.
"We just paid $5 for high end sandwiches, so we're thrilled," Heinbaugh said.
However, the owners said it wasn't easy getting the new food truck up and running.
"We have to get prior approval with the owner of the lot," Zanardelli said.
In order to operate properly, they needed a business license, so they filled out paperwork and filed it with the city of Greenville. The chefs also asked the owners of The Community Tap if they could use the lot.
"Then we took the written permission to City Hall and got a permit," Zanardelli said.
Even though getting the setup for the truck's first day took a lot of hard work, Zanardelli said she didn't mind.
And customers didn't seem to mind either.
"We are thrilled about it, absolutely thrilled," Heinbaugh said.
The truck is parked at The Community Tap and will be open from noon until 8 p.m. If and when its location changes, owners of the truck will post the new information on social media sites.
