Deputies said they were serving a warrant at a Taylors home when the suspect refused to come out Thursday afternoon, leading to a short standoff.

Master Deputy Laura Campbell said officers were called to a home about 11:35 a.m. on Stevenson Road near Taylors Road to serve a criminal domestic violence third offense or above warrant, but the subject would not leave the home.

Deputies called in the SWAT team about 12:30 p.m. because of the subject's prior resisting arrest conviction and the violent nature of the offense. Deputies said contact was eventually made with the suspect following the short standoff, ending about 1:45 p.m.

The warrant was signed on Aug. 27 for 44-year-old William Miller, which said he grabbed his wife's hair, shook her head, then pressed his elbow into her throat so she could not breath.

Miller was arrested and is being held on a $150,000 bond at the county jail.

Miller has two prior convictions of criminal domestic violence within the past 10 years, according to the warrant.

FOX Carolina received several calls about the large law enforcement presence in the area, and Campbell said when the SWAT team is called in, the whole team is activated.
