GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -
On Friday night, the animals at The Greenville Zoo will be surrounded with wine and food tasting stations for the annual Bi-Lo Sippin' Safari.
From 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m., attendees will get the chance to taste a sampling of exclusive Bi-Lo beer along with wine and hors d'oeuvres pairings. Guests will be treated to music, tours of the zoo and a silent auction. More than 1,200 people are expected to attend.
The event is a fundraiser for the zoo's educational programs. Tickets have been on sale at area Bi-Lo stores and cost $40 at the gate Friday.
"The Greenville Zoo's Ed-zoo-cation program is a tremendous resource for Upstate schools and families," said Bi-Lo Charities executive director Carol Browning. "Through Sippin' Safari, Bi-Lo is able to host a great evening showcasing our best beer, wine, deli and bakery offerings, while supporting this vital programming."
Greenville Zoo director Jeff Bullock said funds from this year's event will help expand and improve zoo habitats.
Note, the zoo will be closed early on Friday to prepare for the event. Admission will end at 3:30 p.m. and the zoo will close at 4 p.m.
