ANDERSON, SC (FOX Carolina) -
On Monday a 15-year-old T.L. Hanna student was laid to rest and remembered by hundreds in Anderson County.
More than 500 students were at a candlelight vigil to remember Matthew "Jet" McClellion who died Friday, Sept. 7, just minutes after visiting his father's grave who recently died from cancer.
The accident happened on Cox Road near Cobbs Glenn County Club.
The Anderson County Coroner said speed was a factor in the crash, and that McClellion lost control and tried to overcorrect when the car flipped over.
Friends are trying to cope with his untimely death while focusing on the positive.
"We just want to celebrate the great life that he lived and we just want to make ourselves more like him and it's made an awareness behind the wheel," said Matthew Reynolds, a teammate. "It has for me and everyone else I've talked to. It's rough."
McClellion's funeral was held at First Baptist Church in Anderson. His burial was at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
Counselors will be at T.L. Hanna High School all week to help students cope.
