MAULDIN, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The Mauldin Public Works director was dismissed from his job following his arrest in August, according to the mayor.

In August, William Greg Fincher, 51, was accused of not allowing a woman who was applying for a job to leave the public works building.

Mauldin police arrested Fincher and charged him with kidnapping.

The woman told police Fincher gave her beer during a job interview then would not let her leave the property.

The warrant states that the woman got away Thursday by climbing an 8-foot chain link fence. The warrant said the woman hurt her hand in climbing the fence.

Mayor Dennis Raines said Fincher was placed on administrative leave following his arrest and then dismissed on Aug. 30.

The city is currently looking to fill the director position by October.
