Escaped Mauldin inmate arrested

MAULDIN, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Mauldin police said an inmate who escaped from a work-release program Wednesday afternoon has been arrested.

Police said that 38-year-old Christopher Smith walked away from work at the Department of Public Works and Sanitation on McDougall Court in Mauldin.

Smith, a state Department of Corrections prisoner, is serving a two-year sentence for failure to stop for officers.
