Teacher suspended, accused of posting student work on Facebook

Posted: Updated:

A North Gaston High School teacher was suspended Thursday, accused of posting her students' work on Facebook.

Officials say English teacher Shanna Sigmon-Moore posted three pictures of students' writing on the social media site, highlighting the grammar and spelling mistakes.

The alleged posts were not visible to the public, only to Sigmon-Moore's customized group of friends.

A friend allegedly commented on a picture about spelling, and Sigmon-Moore is accused of commenting back "See what I go through every day".

A spokesperson for Gaston County Schools said an anonymous tip led the school to look into the matter, and to report it to the District Office.

Sigmon-Moore started at North Gaston High in August 2010. She was suspended with pay Thursday, pending the outcome of the investigation. School officials said that is standard procedure.
