PELZER, SC (FOX Carolina) -
A Pelzer man was killed in a head-on crash with a tractor-trailer Monday afternoon.
The crash happened just after 4 p.m. on the state Highway 8 bridge that spans the Saluda River, which separates Greenville and Anderson counties.
Troopers said a tractor-trailer was heading west and a car was heading east, when the car crossed the center line and crashed into the big rig. They said they are still trying to determine why the car crossed the center line.
The driver of the car, identified as 37-year-old Brent Waddell, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured.
Both Waddell and the driver of the tractor-trailer were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
Investigators said it appeared Waddell was trying to get home to his 11-year-old daughter because her dog had been killed by a car earlier in the day.
