GREER, SC (FOX Carolina) -
A standoff at a Greer home prompted by a man's suicide threat peacefully ended Monday evening.
Greer police Lt. Jim Holcombe said they were called to a home on Ripton Court in the Shelburne Farms community just before 7 p.m. after the man conveyed to his brother that he wanted to hurt himself.
Holcombe said investigators believed there were weapons in the home, and negotiators made contact with the man.
Police said that about 8:30 p.m. the man walked out of the home and surrendered to police, Holcombe said. He said no shots were fired during the standoff.
The man was taken to a local hospital for treatment, Holcombe said.
