TAYLORS, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Troopers were investigating a fatal crash involving a pedestrian in Greenville County on Tuesday morning.

Firefighters with Piedmont Park Fire Department said a pedestrian died in a crash on Stallings Road near Pebble Creek Drive about 7 a.m.

Trooper said a woman was walking east in the westbound lane of Stallings road when she was hit by a minivan traveling west.

The pedestrian was taken to the hospital where she died, troopers said.

Greenville County Coroner Barry Wright said the victim was 29-year-old Suzanne Hudson.

Wright said Hudson was walking with a friend, whose car had run out of gas, to Hudson's mother's house when she was hit.

Hudson was wearing dark clothes when she was hit, Wright said. She died from blunt force trauma.

The Highway Patrol reported another fatal crash in Laurens County on Tuesday morning near U.S. 25 and Gin Mill Road.

There is no word yet if the weather played a factor in either crash. Heavy rain is expected for much of the western Carolinas on Tuesday, according to FOX Carolina Chief Meteorologist Kendra Kent.
