Firefighters said they found a body inside of an Asheville home that caught fire Thursday morning.

There was heavy smoke and flames when firefighters arrived and found the victim inside the home located in a home on Logan Avenue, according to Kelly Klope, spokeswoman for the Asheville Fire Department.

Firefighters were first called at 8:10 a.m. about a structure fire with a possible victim, and when they arrived they found the victim in bed.

They were able to extinguish the blaze and said there was heavy fire in the bedroom where the victim was found.

Klope said the victim was identified as Michael Willingham, 54. An autopsy will be performed to determine his cause of death.

The Asheville Buncombe Arson Task Force is investigating the blaze.
