HENDERSONVILLE, NC (FOX Carolina) -
A Henderson County middle school was placed on precautionary lockdown Thursday morning after a student mentioned a weapon, deputies said.
Henderson County deputies were searching Rugby Middle School on Haywood Road in Hendersonville after they said some students mentioned a weapon being at school.
Capt. Frank Stout with the sheriff's office said they were checking out the lockers and rooms to ensure there were no issues.
Stout said nothing had been located or substantiated as of 11:30 a.m., but they were searching the premises for the safety of the faculty and students.
School district officials said parents had been notified of the lockdown.
