GREER, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Several homes in a Greer neighborhood were evacuated Friday afternoon after a gas leak.

Boiling Springs Fire Department officials said they evacuated 10 homes along New Tarleton Way after a tractor hit a gas line.

Only a few people were home at the time of the evacuation, but officials said until they lift the evacuation, residents will not be allowed to return home.

As of 2:25 p.m., Piedmont Natural Gas crews had just arrived and were assessing the leak.
