Good morning - it's a CHILLY start to the day, with many spots in the 40s. That means the kids will need a jacket as they head off to the bus stop, and you'll want one too. It's also a good morning to take a travel mug of coffee or hot chocolate to warm you up as you make your way to work.
Watch for some areas of fog this morning, which may slow you down through the Western North Carolina valleys. Franklin has already been reporting some areas of dense fog, with visibilities down to a quarter-mile (the lower the number, the thicker the fog). We'll also have to watch around creeks, streams and lakes in the Upstate and NE GA, as we could see some patchy dense fog in those spots through 9 or 10 AM.
This afternoon will bring a warm-up of about 30 degrees, with highs returning to seasonal levels. Highs will range from the mid 70s in WNC to near 80 degrees in the Upstate. Humidity will stay comfortable, so it'll be another nice day for outdoor sports practices or grilling.
As an area of high pressure slides to the east through the mid and late week, we'll see the winds take on more of a southerly direction. This is going to bring significantly warmer temperatures on Wednesday and Thursday - in fact, Thursday's highs will be approaching 90 degrees in the Upstate.
Rain and storms will stay to our north over the next several days. By the end of the week, an isolated PM shower or storm is possible in Western North Carolina. The higher chance of scattered rain and increased cloud cover will move in for the weekend - with unsettled weather sticking around into the early part of next week.
Have a great Tuesday!
