ANDERSON, SC (FOX Carolina) -
Anderson County deputies are working to identify suspects in a fatal home invasion.
Deputy Coroner Charlie Boseman said 28-year-old Michael Jones was shot to death Saturday night after someone kicked in the front door of his home on Shirley Circle.
Deputies said Jones was in the home with his girlfriend Brandi Buckner and two children during the incident.
Buckner described in detail what she witnessed Saturday night. "I woke up, I heard pops, I came around the corner and they were still shooting at him. He was trying to run away, and they just kept shooting him in his back over and over and over again. He looked at me in the face and said, 'I'm gone Buck, I love you' and that's it. He just fell," she said.
Boseman said Jones was pronounced dead at the scene. He said the autopsy revealed that Jones was shot multiple times.
Buckner and the children in the home were not hurt.
Deputies are still looking for a motive in Jones' death.
"He didn't beef with people, he wasn't in the streets all night, he wasn't clubbing, he wasn't arguing. He had a few friends, but other than that, he was here (at home)," Buckner said.
The gang task force is assisting in the investigation with the Anderson County Sheriff's Office.
