Some Warmth... Then a Cool-Down!

Posted: Updated:

Good morning!  Those pesky clouds are FINALLY going to clear out today - so if you've been waiting for some sunshine, you won't have to hold out much longer.  The clouds are gradually pushing eastward this morning, with western spots clearing first.  By late AM, I expect most of the area to see sunshine, but some clouds may still be holding tough in eastern locations.  The entire region will enjoy mostly sunny skies this afternoon.

High temperatures will be on the warm side today - reaching the low 80s in the Upstate and the mid 70s in Western North Carolina.  Temps will stay several degrees above-normal on Friday with more sunshine in the forecast tomorrow.

Over the weekend, a cold front will move into the Carolinas.  While this will bring some rain chances, the bigger 'story' with this front will be the cool-down it brings in for the end of the weekend and start of next week.  On Saturday, highs will stay in the low 80s in the Upstate and mid 70s in WNC - but behind that front, temperatures will fall 10+ degrees on Sunday.  End-of-weekend highs will be around 70° in the Upstate and in the low 60s in WNC.  Shower chances look to be best late Saturday into early Sunday - and I think most of the wet weather will be focused in the Mountains.

By early next week, we'll get a big taste of fall!  Temperatures will be 10+ degrees below-normal on Monday, with Tuesday and Wednesday staying cool.  It will be downright CHILLY in the mornings - early Monday and Tuesday, temperatures will be in the 40s and even upper 30s!
