House GOP Leader Kenny Bingham announced Wednesday that six-term incumbent Rep. Murrell Smith will chair the study committee. Smith is an attorney from Sumter.

The nine other House Republicans on the committee include Ethics Committee Chairman Roland Smith of Warrenville, former House Majority Leader Rick Quinn of Lexington and former prosecutor Tommy Pope of York. Others are Reps. Rita Allison of Lyman, Derham Cole of Spartanburg, Joe Daning of Goose Creek, Phyllis Henderson of Greer, Jenny Horne of Dorchester and Andy Patrick of Hilton Head Island.

Bingham and House Minority Leader Harry Ott announced Tuesday they were forming separate caucus study committees on the issue.
