ANDERSON, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Five local sheriffs' offices are offering to collect ammunition, weapons, bomb materials and other explosives, promising to ask no questions and file no criminal charges, a representative for the Anderson County Sheriff's Office announced Thursday.

The agencies participating in Explosives Amnesty Week include the sheriffs' offices in Abbeville, Anderson, Greenville, Oconee and Pickens counties, said Deputy Chad McBride.

From Oct. 22 to 27, residents can call their sheriff's office and request certified bomb technicians to come and remove the material.

"We're not asking any questions. It could be something that you came across on your property that doesn't even belong to you. You can call us. You don't even have to give your name, just give us the address," McBride said.

Anyone who lives in the five counties or in the incorporated cities inside those counties is welcome to participate in the program, McBride said.

Collections will take place between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Residents are asked to contact their local sheriff's office for further information about the collections.
