TRAVELERS REST, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Travelers Rest police are looking for a driver who fled from a crash that sent a woman to the hospital on Wednesday.

Officers said the wreck happened Wednesday morning at the intersection of North Main Street and Scruggs Drive near Travelers Rest High School. Investigators said a man driving a red Mercedes slammed into a black truck head-on, then left the scene.

Betty McCracken said she saw the commotion.

"I got up there and I seen all the cars, see the wreck, but I didn't see who was in it or anything," McCracken said.

Police said they hope someone in the area saw something that could help track down the driver.

"The driver got out of the car, pulled a child out of the car and then got in the car behind him and fled the scene," Travelers Rest Police Chief Lance Crowe said.

Now, investigators are looking for that driver too. They also said the woman in the truck was hurt and was transported to a hospital for injuries.

"She's still in the hospital at this point and she deserves justice," Crowe said.

Police said when they searched the Mercedes, the car wreaked of marijuana. Investigators believe the getaway car had a North Carolina license plate.
