ANDERSON, SC (FOX Carolina) -
Police said an unidentified man robbed an Anderson bank, saying he had a gun before leaving in a minivan Saturday morning.
At 9:10 a.m., Anderson city police officers were dispatched to the Well's Fargo Bank at 1620 East Greenville St. after a bank employee said a white male approached the teller window and handed the teller a note demanding money, saying that he had a gun.
The suspect fled with money, possibly in a blue minivan, possibly a 2000 or 2001 Dodge Caravan, police said. Police said he was in his late 20s to early 30s with a beard and tattoos on one or both arms.
At the time of the robbery, the suspect was wearing a dark colored T-shirt.
Saturday night, Anderson police named Thomas Leroy McDonald, 32, as a person of interest in the case. They said he has not been named a suspect in the robbery. Police said he was wanted in connection with an armed robbery on Thursday in Anderson County.
Anderson County Detention Center officials said McDonald was arrested on Sunday on the outstanding warrant.
If anyone has any information about the robbery they are asked to call Anderson police or Crime Stoppers at 888-CRIME-SC.
