A Williamston man who authorities said stole a minivan at knifepoint Thursday, and then robbed a bank at gunpoint Saturday
Anderson County deputies said Thomas McDonald, 33, was with another man Oct. 4, when McDonald pulled out a box cutter and demanded the man's money and cell phone. They said McDonald then fled in the man's minivan.
Police in Anderson said McDonald showed up at the Wells Fargo Bank at 1620 E. Greenville St. on Saturday and demanded money from a teller, using a note that said he had a gun.
McDonald was charged with robbery in connection with both crimes. He was being held in the county jail.
On Tuesday, McDonald appeared before a judge and FOX Carolina crews said during the hearing, McDonald became upset about the cameras in the courtroom.
"Can I object to them taking constant pictures?" McDonald asked the judge. "How many they need?"
McDonald refused to answer the judge's questions or sign any documents.
He was also charged with entering a bank with the intent to steal. He was given a $100,000 surety bond.
