ANDERSON, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Deputies are searching for whoever stole utility trailers and lawn equipment from an Anderson County neighborhood.

Investigators said they received several reports Monday about lawn mowers and utility trailers secured in front yards stolen during the night Sunday in the area of Whitehall Road.

One of the victims, Joshua Chastain, told FOX Carolina when he opened his garage Monday morning he noticed his lawn mower, trailer and other items missing from his driveway. Chastain said the thefts happened between 1 a.m. and 5 a.m.

"It's a big shock, I mean, cause everybody around here look out for everybody, it's a big shock," said Chastain. "You don't think of it being around here but it's everywhere."

Investigators said Chastain is one of several victims in the area and there is a "black market" for the items that makes it easy for criminal to make quick money selling the stolen items.

Chastain said the suspect(s) cut down his fence to steal the items, worth about $20,000.

If you have any information about the thefts, you are asked to call the Anderson County Sheriff's Office or Crime Stoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
