GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -
Greenville County deputies said a Greer man was arrested after he stole a landscaping truck Tuesday morning, and then fled when they tried to arrest him.
The theft happened just before 8 a.m. at a gas station on Locust Hill Road.
Deputies said the owner of the vehicle called for help and reported that the vehicle was equipped with a GPS device. They said the owner was relaying real-time locations of the vehicle while deputies responded.

Investigators said the stolen vehicle was spotted by a deputy near the intersection of Milford Church Road and Highway 101. They said that when the deputy tried to stop the vehicle, the driver backed up and hit a pickup behind him. They said the driver then jumped out of the vehicle and fled into some nearby woods.
Deputies said search dogs were called to the area and led them to 35-year-old Timothy Gibson, who was hiding behind a house on Milford Church Road.
Gibson was charged with grand larceny, possession of a stolen vehicle, failure to stop for a blue light and two counts of resisting arrest. He was also charged in connection with the crash with the pickup truck, deputies said.
