Families looking for some help this holiday season can apply for Christmas assistance through the Salvation Army starting on Monday.
Monday through Friday, families can stop by the TD Convention Center in Greenville to apply for assistance, which will provide toys and clothes for more than 3,000 children in Greenville County through the Angel Tree program.
To apply, individuals must provide their DSS household summary (if food stamps are received), proof of income and expenses 30 days prior to making application for the household where they reside, a picture ID for the person applying, and birth certificates for children 13 years of age and younger. Social Security cards are not required.
"The holiday season is still several weeks away, but we are already working to make it a merry one for families needing assistance," said Major Kent Davis, Area Commander for The SalvationArmy. "I am humbled by the need in Greenville County and am grateful for our many neighbors who help us provide Christmas assistance to hurting individuals in our community."
The application drive will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. each day. On Tuesday, they will be open until 5:30 p.m.
