PENDLETON, SC (FOX Carolina) -

In preparation for their fall festival on Saturday, one Upstate town has been taken over by scarecrows.

More than 60 scarecrows have been entered to win the People's Choice Award and decorate the front yards, storefronts and more of Pendleton.

Local businesses, groups and individuals have gotten creative using costumes, straw, gourds and more to create scarecrows for Saturday's Fall Harvest Festival.

Every creation will have a sign with the name of the scarecrow and creator/sponsoring group. Then the public will be allowed to vote for the "People's Choice" award for their favorite scarecrow in four categories - business, group, individual, children. Winners will receive $25, a blue ribbon and bragging rights.

The scarecrows must be completed by 5 p.m. Tuesday and online voting will begin Wednesday morning and is open until Saturday at 8 a.m. The winners will be announced during the Pendleton Fall Harvest Festival on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the Historic Village Green.
